Community at
Halcyon Hosting

“I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live.” – George Bernard Shaw
Really Into This
Really into this came to Halcyon Hosting in a panic. Their site was a horrible mess in need of a redesign and support. Their web site speed at their previous host was a solid “F” and they were loosing visitor traffic. Additionally the site could not be updated to a new version of PHP without breaking.
Halcyon Hosting first migrated reallyintothis.com to our state of the art LiteSpeed hosting platform optimized for WordPress using Installatron. Next up was to examine all plugins, themes and additional elements installed on the site and remove things that were no longer needed or outdated. A long list of updates were applied and finally the site was able to use PHP 7/8. The next step was to install the LiteSpeed optimized cache plugin for WordPress, LSCACHE, and configure. The final step involved examining analytics and search console for additional site improvements.
As website traffic returned to normal and then exceeded expectations, it was decided to redesign the website to give it a new look. This was done by cloning the live site using installatron, which allowed their team to work comfortably on a development version that could be safely pushed back to the live site when design was finalized.

Dr. Orna Izakson
As a solopreneur, I’m used to doing nearly every aspect of my business by myself. But tech is not my forte, and when things go wrong it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and helpless. Having Halcyon Hosting on my tech team is the best money I have ever spent in this arena. Not only do I know I will get VIP service if there’s a problem, but Tim Yardley has opened my eyes to what’s possible in this medium — and my business is by far the better for it.

Aluma Aesthetic Medicine
Halcyon Hosting is so much more than a hosting company. The increased browser speed helped our business perform better in searches. In addition, when you need support, his messaging platform is there to help (an email works too). Say goodbye to long chat support lines with someone on the other end who is working with five other chats. We have all been there.
In addition, Tim Yardley, has walked me through various other pieces of web-related information, from domain sites to SEO. He got my customer engagement emails into our client’s inboxes via a verification process in cPanel that I could not figure out. His services and knowledge are truly priceless.

Scott Director's
Scott Director’s is a locally owned and operated custom furniture store located in Beaverton, Oregon. They have been in the same location for over 25 years. Carol and Scott were more than excited to work with Halcyon Hosting, a local web host.
One of the biggest troubles when migrating web hosts is managing email. This was exceptionally critical for scottdirectors.com. Working directly with Scott and Carol to ensure no email was missed and devices continued to send and receive email during the migration was key to a successful and smooth migration.
Website optimizations were applied to the site using the free LiteSpeed optimized cache plugin, LSCAHE. These optimizations allowed the site to go from a “D” to an “A” on gtmetrix.com with minimal effort. A dramatic increase in site traffic and search results has been observed since the migration. An almost 400% increase in exposure, according to Google Analytics and Search Console, since moving the site to Halcyon Hosting.
An addition to the website is the all new “Virtual Showroom” which is a 360 Virtual Tour of the entire showroom. This allows for virtual window shopping from your home computer, tablet or phone. You can experience this here.
It is now a pleasure and an honor to consider Scott and Carol friends. Please be sure to look them up if you are in need of custom furniture for your next project. Their site can be found here.
The Skeleton Key Vintage
The Skeleton Key Vintage is a wonderful macabre vintage store located in Portland, Oregon. I ventured into this store after visiting their sister location at Curiosities Vintage in Tigard, Oregon. I had my camera in hand and my Son came with and brought his camera. We love taking photos inside of vintage stores and posting them on Instagram or Google My Business listings. In the case of Skeleton Key, we went so far as to do a complete 360 Virtual Tour. We even took enough photos to use them on the website, which we built shortly after our visit.
The shop owner did not have much experience with website building or SEO and had been trying to use one of the online builders (you know which one I mean) and run a new store. I put together a site using WordPress and Divi, incorporating their custom font and color schemes. I then sent an email to the owner asking if they would like the website, which they happily said “Yes”. This all took place at the very start of the pandemic when businesses were already struggling to stay open. My thought was to try and help any business that I could with the technology that I can use. I know how to build and host websites and I could do this for a business that I liked. This is what community is all about. This also set the stage for additional acts of goodwill around the Portland, Oregon area by Halcyon Hosting.
